Jeff is among a group of land sharks created by MODOK Superior and the West Coast Masters of Evil to attack Santa Monica, California. After the West Coast Avengers, led by Kate Bishop, foils the plan one baby land shark is found and adopted by Gwenpool. She names him Jeff and he joins her as part of the West Coast Avengers.
When Gwen Poole begins to realize her comic books are being canceled, she gifts Jeff to Deadpool, believing this will secure a bright future for the land shark. Deadpool’s series is then canceled, leading Jeff to be adopted by Elsa Bloodstone.
Gwen’s gambit works, however, as Jeff soon gets his own ongoing series (It’s Jeff!) and so he returns to living with Gwen Poole and Kate Bishop. Jeff has so many adventures like going to a super pool party, sleding with Captain America’s shield, eating the Infinity Gauntlet and “liberating” a Thanksgiving turkey.
During the Venom War, Jeff bonds to a symbiote. This bonding goes incredibly well, as both Jeff and the symbiote just want to eat. They get a bunch of food from the stands at Coney Island before battling the Zombiotes with Kate Bishop, Gwen Poole, America Chavez and Fuse. Once the Zombiotes are defeated, Jeff and the symbiote separate. With no anxiety.
Jeff also helps Kate and Gwen battle X-31, the resurrected clone of Gwen Stacy that was modified by Weapon X.
