Miranda Manuel is a mostly normal teenager living a mostly normal life until the day her powers manifest themselves. While riding in a car with her parents, her powers manifest and cause the vehicle to slow down, resulting in a terrible accident that kills her parents and leaves her in a coma for three months. When Miranda comes out of the coma, she refuses to accept that she is a mutant because, in her mind, that would mean she is responsible for her parents’ deaths.

She moves between family relations for a year before running away. She finds a group of homeless teenagers that live in a series of abandoned buildings in Manhattan. She begins pulling pranks with her powers for social media clout. When she meets and is able to slow down the Juggernaut, things take a turn. After a confrontation that leads to them both being buried under rubble, Juggernaut and Miranda, now calling herself D-Cel, become allies. Together they help Damage Control apprehend the Hulk and battles Quicksand, who is under the control of Arnim Zola.

Together, Juggernaut and D-Cel battle Primus, Zola and the organization behind Zola, Absolution Solutions. Absolution Solutions is in the business of building superhuman prisons and was kidnapping powered individuals to experiment on them and find out how to neutralize their powers. When it seems like the organization is going to be able to apprehend D-Cel with the help of the US government, Juggernaut convinces D-Cel to accept and reveal her mutant heritage. As a result, she is able to claim asylum on Krakoa and the authorities have no choice but to release her.

She is reunited with Juggernaut when the Human Adaptoid attacks Krakoa and tries to kill every mutant on the island. Alongside Deadpool and a handful of other mutants they are able to defeat the villain. D-Cel is eventually recruited by Bishop into his War College program.
