The Weaponer of Qward was one of the many fabled weaponers on Qward in the anti-matter universe. When Sinestro was banished to the anti-matter universe, the fallen Green Lantern came to Qward in search of a new power ring. Trading his stories and secrets to the Weaponer, Sinestro eventually received the power ring that would come to be the foundation of the Sinestro Corps. A ring that took a slow genocide in order to generate enough fear to forge.

After the Blackest Night, the Qwardians were enslaved by Sinestro who wanted to expand his Sinestro Corps to rival the Green Lanterns. During this time, the Anti-Monitor battled a White Lantern. The Weaponer that had spent time with Sinestro went to the scene of the battle and discovered a fading White Lantern energy construct. He was able to contain the energy and bind it to a special shield forging a new weapon with which he hoped to take revenge on Sinestro and free Qward.

The Weaponer traveled to Korugar and managed to gain the attention of both Green Lantern Kyle Rayner and Soranik Natu. The Weaponer knew that Natu was the daughter of Sinestro and had intended to kidnap her, but Rayner provided a better opportunity. Defeating Natu and Rayner with the White Lantern energy, the Weaponer commanded Kyle to tell Sinestro that his daughter would be on Qward, in hopes that Sinestro would come and beg for his daughter’s life.

Kyle Rayner was able to muster a force of Green Lanterns and traveled to Qward. Though they fought bravely, the Weaponer’s shield was too much for them. With the Green Lanterns defeated, the fabled Thunderers of Qward arrived and intended on defeating the Weaponer. At the same time, however, Sinestro and his Sinestro Corps arrived to save his daughter. The Sinestro Corps held off the Thunderers, as well as the Green Lanterns who fought without their power rings in order to maintain a truce at the time, while Sinestro himself defeated the Weaponer in battle. Sinestro chose to offer the Weaponer a Sinestro Corps ring instead of killing him, which the Weaponer accepted. This action caused him to be viewed as a traitor to his race.

When a reinstated Green Lantern Sinestro came to Korugar to dismantle the Sinestro Corps, the Weaponer abandoned his ring and went into hiding, attempting to build a Qwardian Fear Power Battery that would be unconnected to Sinestro. He was almost stopped by the natives of Korugar until Arkillo arrived, helping Weaponer finish his work so that he would have a new yellow lantern ring free from Sinestro’s influence. In exchange, Arkillo helped the Weaponer get off of Korugar.
