Arisia is originally from the planet Graxos IV, in Sector 2815. Her family line is unique in that each generation has served as the Green Lantern of their sector. After the death of her father and uncle, Arisia is the next to take the mantle. She is one of many Lanterns that twart Krona and Nekron as well as being among a group of Lanterns that relocate to Earth after the Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Over time, Arisia develops a crush on the human Green Lantern, Hal Jordan. Subconsciously, she uses her power ring to age herself and is then able to begin a relationship with the older Hal. Eventually, a disruption in the main power battery causes Arisia to lose her power ring. Though she tries to make things work with Hal, eventually the changes are two much and the pair go their separate ways.
Arisia becomes friends with the Green Lantern drill sergeant, Kilogwog. One day, an accidental blow to the head causes her to suffer memory loss and a temporary shift in personality. Her memories begin to return and though she is offered membership in the Corps again, her experiences lead to her not being willing to do so. She does, however, offer to be Hal’s backup on Earth, which is rejected.
Arisia becomes worried for Kilowog and is able to convince Guy Gardner to help her find him. The pair, joined by the Justice League Task Force, arrive on Oa only to find Kilowog’s dead body. They are then attacked by Hal Jordan before retreating back to Earth. Arisia goes on to work at Guy’s bar, making new friends and defending it from attack. She also has a short visit from the supposedly dead Hal Jordan.
Major Force comes to the bar while looking for another and suffocates Arisia. At her funeral, the spirit of Hal Jordan appears to give his final respects.
After Hal Jordan returns to life and the Green Lanterns, he travels to the Manhunters’ home world of Biot. He discovers dozens of “lost” Lanterns being used as energy sources for Cyborg Superman. He even finds Arisia, who Cyborg Superman explains came back from the dead due to her race’s natural healing powers. Cyborg Superman had sent Manhunters to retrieve her and add her to the other energy sources.
She returns to the Corp at this point and help Kilowog defend Oa from the Sinestro Corps, as well as being the trainer of the Daxamite Green Lantern, Sodam Yat. The pair fight side by side in the Sinestro Corps War as well as working to free Daxam from Mongul and his faction of the Sinestro Corps. They succeed when Sodam enters Daxam’s sun and turns it yellow.
Unfortunately, upon Arisia’s return to Oa, the Blackest Night has already begun and Black Lanterns (including those of her deceased relatives) overrun the Green Lantern home world. Arisia survives the Blackest Night and suspects that somehow, Sodam is still alive.
