Nothing is known of the woman known as the Vamp before she joined the criminal organization named The Corporation. While at the Corporation, scientists enabled Vamp to transform into the Animus. The Animus is a humanoid being with a massive head and incredible psionic abilities. In response to these experiments by the Corporation, SHIELD created a team of Super-Agents with similarly created powers. Unknown to SHIELD, the Vamp and Blue Streak were double agents for the Corporation while serving with the Super-Agents. Vamp was an incredibly skilled hand to hand combatant and hid her Animus powers from SHIELD, which led to her being given an “absorbo-belt” that allowed her to copy powers from others within a defined distance.

In her Animus form, the Vamp battled Captain America several times. Eventually, Capt. realized that one of the Super-Agents was a double agent. When he confronted them, the Blue Streak revealed himself as a traitor. Vamp took this opportunity to attack the Blue Streak and make sure that no one suspected her true loyalties. This did not last long, however, as the Corporation soon captured the Falcon and Bruce Banner. When Captain America mounted a rescue mission, the Vamp went with him and revealed herself as a Corporation agent. It was during these events that the Vamp was defeated and turned over to SHIELD custody.

Some time later, the Vamp was freed through unknown means and began to operate in the American Midwest as a mercenary. She, along with many other villains, was eventually invited to the Bar with No Name by Firebrand to discuss strategies against the Scourge of the Underworld who had been murdering super-villains for quite some time. It was at this fateful meeting that the Scourge posed as the bartender and killed every villain inside.
