Alyosha Kravinoff is the mutant bastard son of Kraven the Hunter. Unlike his half-brother, Alyosha was separated from the family and raised in an African jungle. After Kraven’s suicide, Alyosha comes to New York City to learn more about the father he never knew, adorned in Kraven’s costume. Alyosha confronts his uncle, the Chameleon, and learns much from the master of disguise because the Chameleon believed Alyosha was actually his father, Kraven, returned from the grave. When Calypso Ezili returns from the grave, she mistakes Alyosha for his father as well and attempts to seduce him; Alyosha spurns her advances. After having drugged Spider-Man and interrogated him about Kraven, the pair are attacked by Calypso at the Kravinoff estate. The two men are able to overpower Calypso and though she begs for forgiveness, Alyosha kills her and those of his fellow tribesman that betrayed him. Alyosha goes on to adventure in New York for some time more with only his loyal lion, Gulyadkin, at his side.

Alyosha then decides to ditch his father’s ways and reinvent himself in Hollywood as suave ladies’ man, “Al.” After beginning to date Timber Hughes, Al tries to advance her career by becoming a director. Al comes into conflict with the arrogant and corrupt Rothstein brothers. After revenging both himself and his girlfriend, Al decides to leave Hollywood and give super heroics a try.
In the course of these adventures, Alyosha begins to experiment with his father’s potions and becomes deranged much like his father before him. He goes about collecting a number of animal-themed superhumans into a zoo until he is defeated by the Punisher. Alyosha briefly escapes to the Savage Land.

Alyosha returns to New York to help his half-sibling Ana and stepmother Sasha in the Grim Hunt. He fights alongside the Kravinoff family, including his resurrected half-brother Vladimir, and escapes alongside them to the Savage Lands. Though he tries to remove himself from his family, he ultimately fails and helps his sister Ana resurrect their father with Kaine’s blood in Houston, Texas.
