Gizmo is a genius inventor so brilliant that he can transform innocent objects like vacuum cleaners into dangerous weapons. Gizmo went so far as to create a corporation to supply technology to the highest bidder, including super villains and criminals. Wanting to gain more wealth, Gizmo created a personal jet pack and joined the Fearsome Five through an ad placed in the Underworld Star. This venture ultimately proved fruitless.

Gizmo tries to “go straight” and took a job at STAR Labs until Psimon, a fellow former member of the Fearsome Five, sought revenge against Gizmo. Psimon shrunk Gizmo to microscopic size. It took years but Gizmo was able to return to normal size and chose to return to a life of cime along with Mammoth.

Dr. Sivana forced the Fearsome Five to reunite in an attempt to destroy LexCorp by attacking it through its stock worth. The Five battle the Outsiders and then escape back to Sivana. They demand Sivana take LexCorps’ nuclear missile facility. When Sivana refuses, Psimon insists that the Five would take it anyway. Sivana enraged by this betrayal seemingly kills Gizmo with a laser blast to the forehead. Sivana threatens the remaining four that if he ever saw any of them again, he would do the same to them.

Gizmo is reanimated by the Macintech Research and Development. He kills their CEO and earns his seat on the Silicon Syndicate, a sinister group of high-tech criminals. He seems to have retained most of his brain function but is missing an eye and still partially decomposed.
