Brin’s father Dr. Mar Londo conducts several experiments on Zuunium. Mar Londo’s android assistant, Karth Arn, is incredibly jealous of the scientist and switches identities with Brin. This is revealed when Brin, now calling himself Lone Wolf after gaining super powers as a result of his father’s experiments, meets the Legion. After graduating from the Legion Academy he takes the name Timber Wolf. During his tenure with the Legion, he becomes romantically involved with Light Lass though it ends when Lass sees Wolf comforting Saturn Girl. He also travels back in time to the 20th century and fights alien invaders.

Timber Wolf is later transformed into a giant and largely mindless dog-like creature that the Legion calls Furball. The Legion then travels the galaxy in search of Darkseid and come upon a young girl named Gemini. Darkseid is intrigued by Gemini’s kindness to the large beast and offers to return Brin to normal if Gemini will kill Darkseid. After returning to normal, Brin returns to the Legion but is horrified at how they treated him when he was in his dog form. He takes a time travel device and travels to the 20th century where he befriends Jamm before being experimented on by mad scientists, again gaining more wolf-like features. Timber Wolf eventually escapes and returns to his present managing to reconcile with the Legion.

After the events of Zero Hour, Timber Wolf is no longer the son of a scientist but is instead a rival gang leader against Ultra Boy from the planet of Rimbor. He also thinks that he is in love with Apparition for a time, though he later realizes he only cares for her as a friend. Ultra Boy, however, remains jealous of Timber Wolf.

Timber Wolf along with Chameleon Girl, Wildfire, Dawnstar, Tellus, Tyroc and Gates become trapped in the 21st century while hunting a time-traveling genetic terrorist. After being exposed to the terrorist’s mutagen, Brin’s fingernails harden into sharp talons.
