Today we look at young mutant, former member of the New X-Men and full X-Men member: Pixie

Megan Gwynn is a Welsh teenager from a mining town named Abergylid. After her father dies in the mine, Megan fears it and leaves. She enrolls in the Xavier Institute and is assigned to the Paragons training squad under Rahne Sinclair.
After M-Day, Pixie is one of only twenty-seven students that didn’t lose her powers. Pixie participates in Emma Frost’s battle royal with the winner gaining the right to be trained as an X-Man. Pixie does not make it but continues to train at the school.
Pixie, Anole, Loa, Wolf Cub, and Rockslide are told a frightening ghost story that is revealed to be a prophecy by Blindfold. After Blindfold tells Pixie she is sorry for her loss, they are all sucked into Limbo and attacked by demons. Blindfold warns Pixie that she cannot fall to darkness during the fight. Darkchilde appears and saves the group, asking N’astirh to bring Pixie to her. Because of Pixie’s innocence, her soul is the most powerful in Limbo. Against her friends’ wishes, Pixie agrees to let Magik use her soul to create a Soulsword and Bloodstones. During the process, however, Anole frees Pixie and leaves the spell unfinished. This means that only one bloodstone is create and a souldagger, rather than sword, is left. Magik explains this process has extracted a portion of her soul and replaced it with black magic, destroying some of her innocence.
Magik then teaches Pixie a teleportation spell and they use to teleport to Belasco in order to stop him from torturing the other students. Pixie saves the students and kills Belasco by stabbing him with the dagger. Magik intends to use more of Pixie’s soul to create more bloodstones but the timely interference of her brother, Colossus, brings her back to her senses. Magik sends all of the students back to the Institute and seal all entrances to Limbo. Pixie and Anole are made official members of the New X-Men with Dr. Strange offering to tutor Pixie in her use of magic.
When the first new mutant since M-Day appears, Pixe teleports X-23, Hellion, Anole, Surge, Armor and Rockslide to the Washington DC base of the Purifiers. They battle Lady Deathstrike and the Reavers and are quickly overwhelmed. Rictor, who has infiltrated the Purifiers, reveals himself and helps Pixie concentrate so she can teleport her friends to safety. While they attempt to recover, Predator X attacks the Institute and targets the injured. Pixie attempts to teleport Predator X to X-23’s location, because 23 has killed one before, but takes herself, Beast and a number of students along. All of them are dropped into the middle of a massive battle on Muir Island. The Omega Sentinel, possessed by Malice, attacks Pixie and almost kills the mutant. Thankfully, Pixie stabs the Sentinel with the Souldagger and expels Malice thereby saving her life.
Pixie returns to her hometown after the disbanding of the X-Men only to find a demonic race called the N’Garai kidnapping people to feed Kierrok, their leader. Pixie calls in what remains of the X-Men to help her save the town and faces her fear of the mine at the same time. After freeing the town, Cyclops brings her back to America where she joins his team in San Francisco.
After leaving one of Dazzler’s shows, Pixie is ambushed by a group calling themselves the Hellfire Cult. She is overwhelmed and overpowered, beaten to within an inch of her life. Pixie manages to struggle back to the X-Men’s new base and is cared for by Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Karma and Beast. She questions whether she has the mettle for this life but soon redoubles her efforts after battling Emplate. Emplate’s powers are out of control until Pixie stabs him in the head with her souldagger, leaving him blinded and incredibly weakened. She helps repel the Skrull invasion of San Francisco.
Pixie begins to feel anger and bitterness over her time in Limbo and incomplete soul. During a training session with Nightcrawler, the German mutant points out that her personality changes when she uses the Souldagger. She summons it and is lost in a rage, stabbing Nightcrawler in the chest. Pixie soon comes back to her senses and pulls the dagger out, freeing the Soulsword housed within Kurt’s body. Magik senses the Soulsword is free and teleports to Earth to reclaim it. Pixie battles Magik, however, demanding that the lost portion of her soul be returned to her. Magik overcomes Pixie and regains her Soulsword before teleporting back to Limbo, which leaves Colossus distraught. The X-Men learn that Pixie can take them into Limbo and mount a rescue mission consisting of Colossus, Wolverine, Mercury, Rockslide, Pixie and Nightcrawler.
The X-Men battle various demons while Belasco’s daughter, Witchfire, defeats Magik and adds Pixie’s Bloodstone to her amulet. This causes Pixie to lose control and teleport herself to Belasco’s castle. Once there, Witchfire forces Pixie to become her new apprentice and begins to forge new Bloodstones. This process transforms Pixie into a horrific demon and gives Witchfire enough power to summon the Elder Gods. While the X-Men battle the Elder Gods, Pixie is forced to align with Magik and fight Witchfire. Magik strips Witchfire of the amulet containing the Bloodstones and both she and Pixie use their blades to destroy it. Witchfire follows the Elder Gods back into their dimension but promises to return for her apprentice. Pixie is distraught over losing more of her soul and lashes out at Magik before fleeing into limbo in tears.
Pixie later returns to the X-Men with no explanation but greater fighting ability and anger. She helps them battle Empath as well as Madelyne Pryor and her Sisterhood. She is injured when a riot breaks out during a protest. She also joins the team that battles the Dark X-Men, helping Armor and X-23 battle against Daken.
Pixe and her teenage teammates are later placed under a spell that makes them think they are ordinary high school girls. The illusion fades leaving Pixie confronting the demon Saturine. A woman later arrives on Utopia and claims to be her mother. This woman goes on to reveal that Jason Wyngarde is actually Pixie’s father and the Mastermind sisters are her siblings. Bastion attacks the X-Men and sends Magik to Limbo with a spell. Pixie is placed on a rescue team to retrieve Magik where N’Astirh offers to return her lost soul if Pixie kills Magik. Pixie refuses the offer and battles against Gambit, Dazzler and Northstar who have all been corrupted.
Pixie decides to take a holiday but it is interrupted when Magik comes and asks for her help. Pixie refuses, citing the last few times she helped the Russian teen and how it has cost her pieces of her soul. Project Purgatory then attacks Pixie and steals her Souldagger. The New Mutants rescue Pixie and use Magik’s Soulsword to separate the bloodstone from Pixie’s Souldagger. While Pixie recovers, the X-Men battle the Elder Gods. After they are defeated, Magik comes to the recovering Pixie with a golden box that contains her Souldagger and both bloodstones. Pixe and the X-Men later help save a town from a number of souls sealed away in a resident. Pixie goes on to join Hope’s team of young mutants, the Lights. She then goes on to graduate from the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning and becomes a full fledged X-Woman.
