Wyrm is one of only three reality bending creators of chaos who, eons ago, is imprisoned into a hypercube and sent into the depths of the universe. Granting three wishes is the only way for Wyrm to be completely freed of the hypercube but there are rules.
1. A group must share wishes among them.
2. You can never wish for more wishes.
3. You can never make a wish to hurt a Wyrm
What he doesn’t tell would be wish makers is that if he ever gains his freedom, he will unleash chaos on the universe that will result in its eventual destruction. When the Turtles encounter Wyrm, he is kind and helpful at first. However, this persona quickly fades when he grows bored in anticipation of his freedom.
Though he ultimately needs the heroes to gain his freedom, his temporary release still allows him enough agency to toy with them via his reality bending powers. He also knows enough about sentient beings to know that they will make a wish out of frustration and desperation.
Being a chaos god also brings with it an over-inflated ego. When the newly intelligent Casey Jones seems to join Wyrm, Wyrm just accepts it at face value. Though Wyrm is incredibly duplicitious, he assumes that a mere mortal would never be able to fool him. As a boon to his new friend, Wyrm grants him one more wish to “destroy the Turtles” but instead, Casey wishes that they never met Wyrm in the first place. Bound by his magic, time is reversed and Wyrm is trapped back in his hypercube while the team flies past the space station. Unaware of what fate they narrowly avoided.
