America Chavez is raised by her mothers in the Utopian Parallel, a reality “out of time” in the presence of the being known as the Demiurge. America believes that her proximity to the Demiurge is what results in her powers. When she is six years old, her reality is threatened with black holes and her mothers sacrifice themselves to seal the singularities. This has a deep impact on America, who becomes determined to prove herself every bit the hero that she views her mothers as.

After traveling across multiple realities and adopting the name Miss America, she eventually joins the Teen Brigade as co-leader with Ultimate Nullifier. They have a series of incredible adventures involving the In-Betweener, Young Masters of Evil, Kid Loki, Doctor Doom and more. America eventually leave the group over “musical differences.”

America eventually finds herself on Earth-212 where teen Loki approaches her and tries to convince her to kill Wiccan for “the good of the Multiverse.” Chavez is disgusted and chooses to protect Wiccan instead, stopping Loki from attacking Wiccan on Earth-616. America and Loki both leave before Hulkling and Wiccan can understand what is going on. America later returns to save Hulking, Wiccan AND Loki from Mother, an inter-dimensional parasite that Loki accidentally woke. They all escape on Marvel-Boys ship and they later all battle Mother’s forces in Central Park. She also has a crush on Lady Katherine of Bishop, another reality’s version of Kate Bishop, which transfers to the 616 Kate.

America later joins the Ultimates team at the invitation of Blue Marvel. Some time later her long lost sister, Catalina, arrives and tells America her memories are a lie. Catalina claims their mothers were normal human doctors that took their two daughters to a private island called the Utopian Parallel in an attempt to cure a disease called Edges Syndrome (that Catalina suffers from). Over time, their mothers realized that their benefactor intended to use America for nefarious purposes. They plan an escape for both girls but only America is able to escape, while their mothers are killed. Catalina is raised by the man that killed her parents and eventually has her disease brought out of remission so she can develop powers.

Catalina becomes a cold pragmatic person over the years and eventually sees her sister on the news as a super hero. Investigating America, Catalina discovers the alien back story and believes it is used as a coping mechanism. She eventually attacks America’s foster family in order to draw her sister out and capture her. The two sisters battle before Catalina begs America to open a portal and bring their mothers back. America relents but when no one comes through the portal, Catalina becomes enraged and falls through the portal, ending up in an unknown alternate reality.
