The penultimate issue of the arc. Robot has been taking over the world and imprisoning the heroes. One of his drones stands on the moon with the remains of the Viltrumite empire. And Eve and child are okay, even after the amputation.

So this is where the big smack down happens, right? Where the hero gets his comeuppance?

Not quite.

Kirkman falls into a lot of tropes and writing pitfalls in Invincible. But he still knows enough to throw a curve ball. And here, he does. Even though Mark wants to fight, even though he wants to save the day. He knows he can’t.

So the bad guy wins. Robot takes over Earth, supposedly for the greater good. And Mark, Invincible, the hero of our little tale is in exile on the moon.

Where do we go from here?
