Today we look at the Nazi war machine: War Wheel

The War Wheel is a World War II era weapon created by Professor Merson for the Nazis. Though he pretends to be a Nazi prisoner he has actually joined them willingly. The wheel is massive and covered in spikes with a gyroscope inside to maintain its balance. It also has several stationary cannons on the sides.

The Blackhawks discover the War Wheel’s deployment and follow it until they find Professor Merson. Under interrogation, Merson confesses that the Wheel has no weaknesses and only the men piloting the war machine can turn it off. Blackhawk tricks the men into driving the wheel into nearby electrical lines which ends up electrocuting the men inside and rendering the weapon useless.

A second War Wheel is deployed to Spain and ultimately defeated with the use of quicksand. A third War Wheel is deployed and defeated in a similar fashion, though this time the Blackhawks take this defeated device as a trophy. Killer Shark eventually changes Lady Blackhawk into a creature similar to himself and she sics the War Wheel on the other Blackhawks.

Killer Shark laters uses an aquatic War Wheel, though this one is destroyed when Chuck Wilson dive bombs into it. Rick Flag, Sr. is killed while destroying the War Wheel with Task Force X.

S.H.A.D.E. improves on the original design and deploys it alongside the Creature Commandos during their assault on Monster Planet.
