Today we look at the fifth woman to wear the mantle of the White Tiger: Ava Ayala

Ava Ayala is the sister of Hector Ayala, the first White Tiger, and a student in the Avengers Academy. She inherits the White Tiger amulet from her brother following his death at the hands of Gideon Mace. She believes that the power of the White Tiger is a family legacy and she intends to uphold and honor that legacy. She is intitially critical of fellow classmate Reptil for not being very active in the Hispanic community.
During the war with the Builders, White Tiger serves alongside the Heroes for Hire. After they are criticized as mercenaries by the Superior Spider-Man, White Tiger quits the team and joins the Mighty Avengers. Soon after, she becomes close with the second Power Man after they discover that they are able to combine their powers. This “White Tiger Chi” is strong enough to destroy Shuman Gorath and defeated Cerberus.
As the days ran down to the final incursion, White Tiger attempts to reconcile with her family. They are angered, however, that she has chosen a life that has led to so much death and destruction. They threaten to kill her if she does not leave.
White Tiger later joins Sunspot’s New Avengers and battles her niece Angela del Toro after the White Tiger god forsakes her. She is able to defeat her niece after removing and destroying the jade amulet as well as another amulet given to Angela by the Maker. While this cuts her off from the power of the White Tiger god, Ava is confident in her fighting ability and is still able to defeat her niece in combat and save the day.
