SHIELD Agent Monica Chang is the head of SHIELD’s Artifical Intelligence division. She personally handles the interrogation of Hank Pym after the virus he used to destroy Ultron evolves into the AI calling itself Dimitrios. With Dimitrios launching powerful cyberattacks against secure military targets, Hank helps Monica form a new team of Avengers: Avengers A.I.
This new team is not able to stop Dimitrios before it is able to bond with Tony Stark’s “Safe Armor,” feeling sympathy towards the armor for being rejected for achieving self-awareness. With its new body, Dimitrios launches several attacks that target Avengers A.I., even unleashing a Kilgore Sentinel. After defeating the sentinel, the Avengers learn of Dimitrios ultimate goals: to locate Alexis and destroy the human race.
Vision and Victor Mancha are able to find and infiltrate the Diamond, Dimitrios’ home, leading to life altering events for both of them. Vision is forced to choose between his loyalty to humanity or fellow A.I. while Victor is attacked and torn to pieces, presumably dying.
The Avengers A.I. are temporarily distracted when they battle an elderly woman exposed to the Terrigen Mists and transformed into an octopus Inhuman. Doombot is able to calm the woman, who then leaves with the Inhuman queen Medusa.
Monica leads a rescue mission to the Diamond where they discover that Victor Mancha is alive and in the company of another AI named Gibson, exploring the intricate systems. Alexis is able to show Monica a vision of the future where Dimitrios wins and almost destroys the universe. To avert this, Monica prevents the execution of a rogue LMD and gets the Avengers to vow to respect all life, artificial or organic. The Diamond is also left in peace, preventing a unification of AI against the common enemy of humanity.
